Your life speaks before your words do
Most people are drawn to Jesus through someone they trust long before they’re argued into anything. The way you handle stress, own your mistakes, treat people who can do nothing for you — that’s a sermon people actually listen to. Grace-seasoned conversation starts with a grace-shaped life.
You don’t need a script. You need to be someone whose life makes people curious.
“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt.”Colossians 4:6 (NIV)
Share your story, not a lecture
You’re not responsible for winning debates; you’re a witness, and a witness just tells what they’ve seen. What has Jesus actually done in your life — the peace, the change, the forgiveness? Nobody can argue with your experience. Keep it honest and specific.
And it’s completely fine to say, “Great question — I’m not sure, let me find out.”
Read the moment
Grace “seasoned with salt” means the right amount at the right time. Forcing faith into every conversation pushes people away; ignoring every opening wastes them. Pray for eyes to see when someone is genuinely open, and courage to gently step in when they are.
Try this week
- Write out your story in three minutes: before, how you met Jesus, after.
- Pray for one or two friends by name to become curious.
- Practice one natural, non-pushy way to bring faith up.
- Invite someone to church or a group — an easy, low-pressure door.
Questions to sit with
- Does my everyday life make anyone curious about my faith?
- Who has God put around me that I could pray for?
- What’s my honest, personal story of following Jesus?
Jesus, make my life point to you before my words do. Give me grace-filled words, courage when the moment comes, and love for the people you’ve put around me. Amen.
