What baptism is

Baptism is a public act in which a believer is immersed in (or has water applied) as a sign of their new life in Christ. Jesus commanded it, and the first Christians practiced it immediately when someone came to faith.

What it means

Baptism is a picture. Going under the water and rising up dramatizes the heart of the gospel — dying to an old life and being raised to a new one with Jesus.
