Anxiety is one of the most common struggles there is, and the Bible meets it with more compassion than cliché. These verses don't wave the worry away — they point it toward a God who cares and can be trusted. Read them slowly. Pray them back.
God invites you to hand it over
- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.1 Peter 5:7
- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:6-7
- Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.Psalm 55:22
You are not carrying it alone
- Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.Isaiah 41:10
- Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.John 14:27
- When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.Psalm 94:18-19
One day at a time
- Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.Matthew 6:34
- Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Matthew 11:28
- Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.Isaiah 26:3
Pray this
Lord, you know the worries I can't seem to put down. I'm handing them to you now, one by one. Guard my heart and mind with a peace I can't explain. When my thoughts race, quiet me with the truth that you are near. Amen.
